Fire...Earth...Water...Air...

Seven years ago, the world came to an end. And a new one began where that one left off. After the Avatar defeated my father, Fire Lord Ozai, my brother Zuko assumed the throne. After near war with the Earth Kingdom and the escape and capture of my Father, things on the surface look calm. But there is a war going on in the shadows. It's time to see once and for all if our nation can be held up to the flame.

The Changing Times
Ta Min was sulking.

It wasn't in her nature to sulk - she was cheerful, exuberant... she was five years old. Five year olds didn't have an attention span LONG enough to sulk!

Still...

Hanging over the edge of her bed - her tiny feet kicking in the air behind her (one sock dangling half on her foot - the other foot bare) Ta Min had officially descended into sulk mode. It didn't help that it was pouring rain outside. It was winter in the Fire Nation - that meant that the naturally tropic-like climate began doing that which it did best... rain. Fire Nation poetry and songs and epic tales - for all it's famed talent for stories about fire and dragons... what they REALLY knew about was rain. Rain for spring. Rain for fall and Rain for winter... they had more words for rain than they had for the spices they used in their food! So - of course - Ta Min was sulking. It was all the rain's fault really... mostly. Ta Min knew she was sulking - but she didn't mean anything by it - she wasn't a vindictive girl... she loved her various adopted aunts and adopted cousins VERY much. Despite being only five years old she regularly tended to lead Ty Lee's nieces and nephews on 'big amazing adventures' - usually against her 'valiant foe' - I.E the frog that lived in the big pond outback of the Lee family compound.

Ta Min's quick mind and ability to fast-talk other children into doing what she wanted did have a draw-back though - namely that when the adults wanted to know who started a fight or created a mess the 'lackeys' that the little five year old would cajole into going along with her ideas were VERY quick to squeal on her. Which - of course - eventually descended into Ta Min tracking down the person that had done the squealing and picking a fight with them... not that she'd MEANT to pick a fight. She'd just been mad - it wasn't her fault that they all got dirty - that mean old frog just wouldn't let itself get caught! Telling Ty Lee's oldest fattest sister (Ta Min still didn't grasp one of the functions of pregnancy) that Ta Min had started throwing mud around hadn't been fair at all.

The other girls had started at EXACTLY the same time...

Wiping at her swollen lower lip, Ta Min looked up at the mirror on the wall and winced as she saw all the scratch marks and bruises on her face. For all her being clever and bossy she wasn't a very good fighter - she couldn't use her powers to win fights so she had to rely on her tiny body... and it usually lost. Her daddy was going to be so angry... and Ty Lee would be disappointed. That really bothered Ta Min - it had been almost a month since she'd last seen her pseudo-aunt. When her daddy came to visit tonight he said he might bring Ty Lee if she was strong enough... and they were going to walk in on her looking like... this.

Her eyes moving towards the door as she heard a tiny knock, Ta Min scooted to the far wall and lay flat, "She's dead," the five year old said, "Everybody was too mean to her and she died - blech," there was a soft spatter of laughter from behind the door and then Ty Lee's oldest 'fat' sister poked her head inside, "Shall I bury the royal heir in her dirty dress or her dirty jammies?" lying perfectly still, Ta Min muttered, "Dun care..." waddling over to Ta Min, the 'fat' oldest sister groaned tiredly and sat down next to the little girl, "Your father won't be very pleased about you picking fights with Nalum,"

Rolling over, Ta Min muttered, "Daddy understands - aunty understands... Nalum's bossy. Nalum is mean and a tattle-tale," brushing Ta Min's hair gently, the 'fat' sister said, "You don't mean that," rolling over again so the 'fat' sister couldn't see her face, Ta Min grumpily said, "Do too..." Ta Min didn't hear what the 'fat' sister said next because her attention was - almost instantly - diverted to motion against the far wall. It was some sort of insect - she could tell that much. As she watched it 'float' through a small hole in the wall and then start buzzing gently across the room - the little girls mind was dragged back to books she'd read about the Earth Kingdom.

Creatures in the swamps... poisonous creatures... tiny flying dragon bugs with no eyes. They hunted by sound - by movement. Her eyes widening as it's head twitched towards them, Ta Min's body went rigid still as the 'fat' sister said, "Child don't ignore me - I can't have you picking fights all the time! What kind of ruler will you EVER be if you-" feeling her stomach freeze in place, Ta Min whispered, "Aunty Buri... aunty Buri, don't move - don't blink. Blink and it's gonna kill us," looking up confusedly, Buri said, "Kill us? What's going to kill us? Ta Min this isn't-" her tiny hand closing tightly around Buri's kneecap, Ta Min whispered, "It's cold - I read 'bout it in my books! It's a hunter - once it warms up it'll get hungry! And it's gettin warmer already! I can hear us - don't move!"

Sitting rigid still as she spotted the winged killer, Buri whimpered as the insect buzzed towards her, "It's okay aunty Buri... it's okay... it's still cold. Don't move..." whimpering again as the creature slowly turned away, Buri whispered, "The baby... child - Ta Min, get away - get away while-" suddenly the insect twitched around again to face Buri - it's tail snapping forward as it moved to strike. Screaming in terror Buri clutched her mid-section just as the creature moved to attack... and vanished in a HUGE puff of flame and ash. Staring at her tiny outstretched palms as if they had acted on their own - Ta Min slowly brought her hands to her face to examine them. The rush of fire had singed her palms and blisters were already forming - not to mention that the force of the flame had sent the curtains on the far wall roaring into light! Within seconds though, Buri was up and smothering them as fast as she was able. Listening as guards came running towards the door, Buri ran out and shouted, "Someone tried to kill us - an assassin in the hall! Find him! Quickly! Spread out!"

Putting her hand over her belly again, Buri inhaled and exhaled a few times - the stress was really getting... her eyes widening as her brain caught up with her, Buri squeaked, "Ta Min!" running back into the little girls room, Buri quickly grabbed the young girl and held her close, "Ta Min you were SUCH a good girl! You were so brave and-" grunting as the little girl shoved her away, Buri stared at her as Ta Min shrieked, "You're stupid! Why'd you hafta be so loud?! It coulda killed you! It coulda killed everybody! Why did you do that?! I coulda not been good enough! I coulda not been fast enough! You coulda died and it woulda been my fault!" beginning to shake like the young girl that she really was, Ta Min buried her face in Buri's shoulder - her whole body one massive knot of fear and adrenaline. The only words that were understandable from her tiny form were "My hand hurts! I want my daddy! Bring me my daddy!"

(OOC: This topic can either be just me and Ta Min - or anyone else who wants to join in should be able to. Chiyori would have been here to escort Zuko. Ty Lee COULD have been here hoping to see Ta Min - still weak but not as sick as she has been. Azula could even be here - it's up to you guys. I'm leaving this open until tonight when I'll post again and move the plot on. If anyone else wants to get in between now and then send me a PM or contact me over Skype)

RE: The Changing Times
Ta Min was in trouble - and that was pretty much all Ty Lee had been informed about. The group had been in a frenzy. Zuko was given the information first, as was fitting, and he called for the Kyoshi Warriors to come with him on make sure his daughter was okay. Ty Lee demanded she be able to come with, though Zuko actually seemed alright with it for once. As much as to also mention he had forced her to wrap up in a thick, woolen blanket to keep the cold from chilling her weakened bones. A month and a half after waking up from her coma, she'd recovered in leaps and bounds, but still susceptible to both injury and illness.

That didn't seem to be enough for the Fire Lord, however. Unfortunately for him, Ty Lee was spirited, and there was nothing keeping her in the carriage when they pulled to a stop in front of her family's mansion. The group heard the piercing scream from inside the walls, and that was enough for Ty Lee before she burst into action. The acrobat threw her blanket back, covering the Fire Lord and distracting him enough as she rushed toward the front door.

Before her coma, Ty Lee was able to perform her flips and twists without anything more than a blink and a grin. After, unfortunately for the peppy girl, left her having to focus and be sure to not fall off-balance. She'd gained back most of her weight from starving during her coma, but changing weights so often in such a short amount of time threw her off. And because of that, she was much more susceptible to toppling over or throwing herself too far. This was a dire situation, however. With Zuko shouting at her in the background, she focused carefully on the wall, then scaled it.

Pressing her foot into the side of the home, Ty Lee propelled herself up, grabbing at one of the outer exposed rafters and pushing off the wall. Backflipping to the second floor, her legs hooked around a tapestry pole as she hung upside-down from it. That was her metaphoric stumbling point. Hanging upside-down just about stopped her in her tracks, but she trusted in herself and pushed forward. Bursting through the window, her luck came to an end, and she crashed into the floor on her shoulder.

She looked up, eyes frantically searching for the tiny body of the five-year-old girl. Relief flooded her eyes in the form of tears as Ta Min's eyes met her own. Ty Lee pushed herself to her feet and ran forward, pulling her into her arms and kissing her cheek. Ignoring her sister, the gymnast squeezed Ta Min tightly, then pulled away, holding her by the shoulders. "Tahmee! Are you okay, sweetie pie?" Ty Lee squished her cheeks and tugged on her arms. "Why are your hands like that? Are you okay? Are you hurting?"

RE: The Changing Times
Zuko HAD promised to bring Ty Lee with him provided she was strong enough. He'd even gone into Ty Lee's room to check on her and ask her if she was feeling strong enough to come along. He hadn't expected a lecture on him treating his old friend like a prisoner and a blatant DEMAND that he let her go visit Ta Min. Rather than argue with her - or point out why he was there - Zuko had simply consented and taken her along. Unfortunately, he hadn't planned on Ty Lee letting her 'demanding' go to her head and starting to fuss along the way. Rolling his eyes as Ty Lee complained about being too warm again, Zuko wrapped the blankets back around her, "Look, I just got you well - your curves look like curves again for a change. If you get sick you'll get stuck back into that bed back at the palace and I don't think either of us want that!"

Zuko didn't exactly know why he was going to visit his daughter. That strange woman under Caldera had known about her - but Zuko had satisfied himself that 'Lady Yu' was merely insane. There were threats against nobles and children of nobles all over the court right now - Ty Lee's family weren't really in danger though. They were 'in the pocket of the Fire Lord' as her father had joked to Zuko when Ta Min had first been turned over to his daughters. Something had been nagging at Zuko since he'd come back from the visit to that witch - dreams and nightmares that he couldn't really remember... part of him wondered if 'Lady Yu' had put something in his head - maybe she was trying to make him paranoid... suffice to say, the paranoia had EVENTUALLY won out. Here he was - on a trip to see his daughter late one evening shortly before she would have gone to bed. It would still be a number of months - possibly even years - before Zuko revealed his daughter to the nobility. He intended Hikari to take charge of Ta Min's education but not for several months (again, possibly years) as the young woman was still settling into her role as regent.

Not to mention that Zuko felt it would be completely irresponsible to dump his five year old daughter onto the prim and proper Hikari. Zuko suspected that they would mix as well as oil and water - what with how he'd badly spoiled his daughter since she was an infant. Maybe once he'd gotten Ta Min to be a bit more cooperative with someone other than himself - another year or two perhaps. Ta Min worshiped Ty Lee and Azula like they were heroes - and she seemed to go out of her way to please them. But Azula kept her distance - and Ty Lee spoiled the girl worse than Zuko did. So they'd never really butted heads against the tiny girl. Zuko had - and he'd been forced to discipline her from time to time. Ta Min hated his voice when it was stern and would almost instantly try to convince him she was sorry. The Fire Lord sometimes wondered if leaving someone as head-strong as Ta Min with a family of gentle but undisciplined busy-bodies had been the best idea at the time... not that he'd really had MUCH of a choice.

Perhaps Hikari really was the answer - Hikari was quiet and studious but she had a personal interest in his daughters future. She wanted to repay the debt left by her disgraced teacher - Zuko felt no debt but HIKARI did and he wasn't going to argue with her. THAT was something his daughter and his new regent had in common... stubbornness. Ta Min would eventually have to learn how to behave as a princess should. Honor and their bloodline demanded it... he wouldn't be around forever. She would have MANY expectations thrust upon her - and she needed to realize sneaking off to hunt for frogs or crickethoppers would NEVER be the right answer to whatever problems she had.

Right now though, Zuko's 'wondering' was being overridden by Ty Lee. Honestly, it was worse than riding with Ta Min after the little girl had gotten her hands on a bag of candy! Ty Lee had a lot of energy - most of her bubbly personality was back - and while overtaxing herself quickly wore her out, there wasn't much change of her wearing herself out wrapped in a blanket and riding in a carriage. So she was jabbering about how excited she was but how much she hated the blanket. Zuko almost wished she would start humming or popping her mouth - it would at least keep her from jabbering about nothing and everything at the same time, "Ty Lee, your mouth runneth over - why don't we just-" his head jerking around as he heard one of the guards shout from outside the carriage, Zuko reached out to shove open the door and bellowed, "What's wrong?!" listening as one of the guards said that the rear guard had spotted someone on the roof, Zuko started to give orders when he heard a scream.

Ta Min's scream... moving to get out of the carriage Zuko shouted as Ty Lee turned into a storm - dumped the blanket on him - and vanished into the soggy darkness of the garden, "Ty Lee!! TY LEE?! Get back here! Chiyori!!" shoving the blanket out of the way, Zuko dropped out of the carriage and shouted, "Spread out - get the guard to surround the compound and move in as soon as you're all in position! Guard captain! With me!" running up the step Zuko shoved several servants out of the way as he pressed inside the compound.

Running down the halls of the Lee compound, Zuko was seething with rage that had recently replaced his fear. Glaring at his guards as they moved alongside the Kyoshi, Zuko roared,"Find him... FIND HIM!!!" as they scurried about to find the killer that had targeted Ta Min and failed, Zuko suddenly caught sight of Chiyori shouting at him and waving him down the far hall, "What have you found?" listening to the Kyoshi leader, Zuko's tilted his head to one side when she said someone needed to speak to him, "Who is it?" as Chiyori told him she didn't know - but that it was important, Zuko just blinked in confusion, and moved past Chiyori towards the end of the hall.

RE: The Changing Times
It was annoying when Ta Min needed to be held by Buri - her fat belly kept trying to poke Ta Min and there was no room for the little girl in Buri's lap. Right now Ta Min didn't feel brave - she didn't feel big or gifted or strong. She felt small and scared. She felt angry with herself because she almost hurt Buri - because she wasn't fast enough. More than anything, she felt like she needed her daddy.

Her head snapping around as there was a loud thump followed by the appearance of a woman crashing to the floor, Ta Min pressed herself as close as she could against Buri... at least until the 'woman' picked herself up off the floor and Ta Min recognized her face, "Aunty!" grabbing Ty Lee as soon as she was close enough to reach, Ta Min buried her face in Ty Lee's chest and wrapped her arms and legs around Ty Lee as tightly as she could - utterly ignoring Buri as the pregnant woman shouted, "Ty Lee?! What- are you okay?! Why didn't you use the door?!"

"I don't know! I don't know!" Ta Min wailed - shaking fearfully as Ty Lee asked her questions that she was too terrified to answer, "I burned them - they hurt... don't touch them! They hurt!" sobbing as Ty Lee tried to make the little girl unclench her grip enough to look at her hands, Ta Min barely heard as Buri said, "Ty Lee are you alright? What's going on?" watching as her younger sister kept trying to get Ta Min to calm down, Buri put her hand on Ty Lee's shoulder and said, "Ty Lee, I don't think she'll let go of you - the bathroom over there has a first aid kit. You hold her, I'll try to get a look at her hands,"

Smiling tiredly at her little sister, Buri said, "Ty-Ty, come on - she hurt herself. We can't just let her sit here and cry. The bathroom is just over there,"

RE: The Changing Times
Ty Lee reached out, fingers outstretching to grab a hold of Ta Min's hands when the little girl stopped her, claiming that they hurt. The gymnast pouted and pulled her hands back, focusing her touch to Ta Min's hair. Massaging the young girl's scalp, Ty Lee tried to comfort her, holding her close and whispering that everything was going to be alright. Unfortunately, the princess continued to cry, despite Ty Lee's words and calming hands. But Buri had experience with children - she knew how to handle the desperate situation unlike how Ty Lee thought to handle it.

The Kyoshi Warrior glanced up at the touch of her sister. She blinked, listening to the words, then cleared her throat and nodded. Right. Fix the problem, then try to calm Ta Min down - not the other way around. Holding the girl close to her body, Ty Lee held a hand out for her sister. She still wasn't completely at her best, and with both her own tired body and a five-year-old girl's... well, needless to say, she wouldn't have been able to stand without Buri's assistance.

"It's okay, Tahmee. We're going to get your hands fixed up, okay? Daddy's here. He's downstairs, but he'll be up here soon, and he'll give you a big, big hug like this-" Ty Lee squeezed Ta Min, placing her on the edge of the tub and kneeling beside her, "-and a big, big kiss like this." Though, her kiss wasn't nearly a kiss, instead she raspberried the princess' cheek loudly, trying to pull a giggle or two out of her instead of the catgator tears.

Ty Lee didn't want to move apart from Ta Min. So, instead of moving, she stretched her leg out, wiggling out of her shoe and using her toes to open the lower cupboard with the bandages and soothing ointment inside. "I'm guessing you did some pretty neat firebending to save Aunt Buri, right?" She continued to speak, trying her best to lighten the mood. "Was it - like - a big flame poof or a little, sniper one?"

RE: The Changing Times
As he passed down the hall he found a woman in black with a dagger sticking out of her chest. Examining the corpse, Zuko's anger against the assassin that lay before him quickly vanished when he saw the half-dead body of the first Kyoshi/Fire Nation soldier lying against the wall, "Zosha..."

Moving towards the young girl, Zuko examined the huge hole in her stomach and the various marks on her arms, her neck and the dark welt on her face that had swollen one of her eyes shut. She'd found the assassin trying to escape. Zosha had been one of the soldiers that escorted Zuko here. One of the outer guards. The assassin had almost killed the girl... but the girl took the killer's life in the end. Glancing up as he heard one of Ty Lee's sisters come padding up, Zuko listened as she said, "She came to warn us - she said she saw someone moving along the rafters of the compound... shortly before the scream from Ta Min's room. She ran off... I thought..."

Swallowing as he looked at Zosha as she bled out on the floor, Zuko forced himself to examine her wounds. To remember what his laxity and failure had cost him and this young woman, "Hey... hello," opening her one working eye, Zosha smiled weakly, "Fire Lord..." swallowing at the strain in her voice and face, Zuko raspily said, "You helped my friends... my... my family..." putting his hand on her shoulder, Zuko said, "Thank you," smiling sadly, Zosha said, "My... father... he... he killed my... my mother," swallowing - trying to clear what blood was blocking her throat, Zosha rasped, "In... in cold blood and... and they took him away. I saw him do it..."

Shaking his head firmly, Zuko put his hand against her ruined face, "Hey... no... no I'm sure your mother... I... your mother is proud - she has to be. You didn't let-," watching as tears began to slide down Zosha's face, Zuko dried her cheek and said, "You didn't let him make you into something else - you didn't let... let your past control your future. Your mom has a LOT to be proud of," coughing weakly, Zosha said, "Do you know... do... you..." staring at Zuko with a sad smile, "I wish... I wish you were my father. When you... when you ran in the front - just after... after the scream... you were so strong and ready to pro... protect..."

His jaw tight as he stared at Zosha, Zuko said haltingly, "Ta Min. Her name.... Ta Min," watching as her broken lips tried to form a smile, Zuko felt his chest ache as the young girl coughed again, "I wish you could have come to protect my mom and me that day..." reaching out Zuko took her bloody face in his hand and said, "Do you know what I wish, Zosha? I wish... I wish I'd known you better," smiling weakly, Zosha licked her lips and softly said, "I... I think... you know me... know me at... my best," with one final pathetic gurgle Zosha twitched weakly and finally her body slowly went limp. Listening to the sound of the air escaping her lungs, Zuko wished he could have forced the air back into her body as she died right in front of him. Stroking Zosha's face gently, the Fire Lord lay her head back and listened as Ty Lee's sister asked the guard captain who she was - and all he could tell her was how brave Zosha had been. Nodding slowly - a shaken look on his face - Zuko said sadly, "They're always brave... always.

Standing up, Zuko pushed past Chiyori and said, "I'm going to see my... daughter. Do something - do anything - I'll... I'll be down soon," feeling that dull ache in his chest form again, Zuko quickly began to move towards Ta Min's room. She was alive... he knew that... but he had to make sure of it. Now more than ever.

RE: The Changing Times
Grunting as she helped her little sister to her feet - Buri winced in discomfort and exhaled as she waddled after Ty Lee, "We better not do that again - the peasant inside me doesn't like it," watching worriedly as she didn't get a smile out of her chatter-box sister, Buri tried to bend over to open the cabinet - but almost ended up tipping herself over. Catching herself on the sink, Buri winced as Ty Lee had to open the cabinet herself with her toes and said, "Sorry - I forget about my balance every now and again," backing up from the sink, Buri squatted down to examine the stuff they'd need.

Despite how hard Ta Min was trying - she couldn't stop crying. She couldn't stop shaking either. She wasn't crying like she'd been when Ty Lee had picked her up - mostly it was just quick breathing and the shivers. The princess was better - but her hands were still burnt and she still wouldn't let go of her foster aunt. Listening as Ty Lee said her daddy was here, Ta Min sniffled and said, "I know - I want him. Where is he?" sniffling as Ty Lee said he would be here soon - and that he'd give her a hug - Ta Min instantly responded to the embrace by giving Ty Lee one of her own. Hanging tightly around Ty Lee's neck the little girl didn't even notice when she was set gently down on the tub - until Ty Lee let her go.

Staring up at Ty Lee, the little girl said, "Don't go - not 'till daddy comes. You won't go will you?" sniffling as Ty Lee said her daddy would also kiss her - Ta Min DID manage a giggle when she was giving a raspberry. But her smile faded quick as she hung onto Ty Lee's arm, "Please don't leave - my hands hurt. Please stay 'till daddy comes..."

Grunting as she finally reached what she was looking for, Buri shuffled up against the wall and 'pushed' herself upwards until she was standing again, "Who the heck thought it would be a good idea to make all this stuff so low down..." waddling over to Ty Lee, Buri bent one of her legs and slowly lowered herself into a kneeling position next to her sister, "She definitely did something 'neat' alright," the pregnant woman said with a smile, "She set several curtains on fire - but she also killed the thing that was going to kill us,"

Looking utterly distraught, Ta Min muttered, "I sawed pictures of it in one 'a my books..." Sniffling as Ty Lee took her hands and turned them over, Ta Min said, "It was a earth kingdom bug - its from swamps - I dunno how it got here but it could killed Buri - I had to kill it before it did and I did it wrong..." wincing at the burn marks on her hands - including the quickly forming blisters, "Fire's never hurt me before... fire's nice - it's warm and helpful... but it hurt me. It didn't dance with me - it hurt me..."

Stroking Ta Min's back, Buri watched as Ty Lee tried to apply the ointment and bandages but shook her head, "Ty-Ty let me - your hands are shaking faster than a jar of jelly on top of a horse cart," tilting her head as she heard a door open - followed by a familiar voice, Buri said, "Ty Lee you better go talk to the Fire Lord - if Ta Min is hurt... it's probably better if he find out about before he see's it,"

Sniffling a little less, Ta Min said, "Does daddy have to know about my hands? I wanna be a good bender - good fire benders don't burn themselves..." her eyes widening, Ta Min hissed, "Don't tell him about my fighting! I don't wanna be hurt and naughty too!"

Smiling, Buri gave Ty Lee's knee a pat, "Go on - I'll get her hands fixed up. Tell the Fire Lord we'll be right out,"

RE: The Changing Times
Ty Lee opened her arms wide, pulling Ta Min into a tight hug. She turned her head and kissed the girl's cheek loudly - a big smooch. "Tahmee, I promise I won't tell your daddy about your hands. I'll go stall him, so be sure to get them all bandaged up and stuff, and maybe later you can tell him about it, hm?" She nuzzled the little girl's cheek, then stood, putting her hand on her sister's knee and using it to rise to her feet. She turned to leave, then turned back, frowning and grabbing the jar out of her sister's hands. "Tahmee's allergic to that." With that, she put the jar back and grabbed a different jar, handing it to Buri and opening the door to the bathroom.

Just as Ty Lee managed to slip out of the bathroom and shut the door behind her Zuko walked into the bedroom. The gymnast rushed over to him and put both her hands out, flat, against the Fire Lord's chest. "Now, you just wait right there," she began, putting her hands on her hips when she was sure Zuko wasn't just going to dodge right by and ignore her. She realized this was his daughter she was keeping him from seeing, but what she had to say was more important. Well, at least, in her eyes (which knew Ta Min was going to be perfectly okay) it was more important. "Ta Min's okay, and she's in the bathroom right now, but you've got to listen to me. We're going to have a little chit chat right now, and there's nothing you can do to get out of it, mm'kay?"

Ty Lee grabbed Zuko's hand, tugging him to the hallway once again. She ignored his protests fairly well, and shut the door to the bedroom once she finagled him out of it. There were guards out in the hall, and Ty Lee waved at them to go away, shouting 'shoo's as she did. Unfortunately for her, they only left when Zuko told them it was fine to do so. Still, she turned in a huff back to the Fire Lord and leaned on one leg. "Okay, so I just totally promised your daughter I wouldn't tell you this. So, if you tell her I told you, I'll deny it and then slap you right in front of her. I swear on the universe itself, Mister Fire Lord." Ty Lee waggled her finger in front of his face to show just how serious she was about her statements.

"Okay, anyway, Ta Min's - like - totally okay. She's all weepy and stuff and she wants to see you, but you can't go in there for another... uh- another six or seven minutes. You promise?" The Kyoshi Warrior linked her pinky with Zuko's before he could say anything and nodded. "Okay, good. She doesn't want you seeing that she kinda got a little burned. She totally saved Buri from a bug of doom, I think it was called, with a poof of fire and stuff. Except it kinda made little blisters on her hands and she's super embarrassed about them. She made me promise not to tell you, but she didn't want you seeing them, and you were already coming in. So, I had to tell you, but you can't tell her that I told you. Okay? Just - like - ignore the hands and be super supportive of her and tell her she did an awesome job and stuff. Otherwise, you'll crush her self confidence and she'll end up running away from the Fire Nation, becoming a fugitive, getting an ugly scar on her face, and trying to capture the Avatar. And you're not going to make my beautiful baby niece into a Mister Ponytail."

RE: The Changing Times
As Zuko rounded the corner he was met by a certain irate Kyoshi - and before he could even say anything she charged towards him and put her hands on his chest, "Ty Lee, not now," the Fire Lord sighed as she wouldn't move - but his annoyance gave way to surprise as she grabbed his hand and started dragging him out of the bedroom, "Ty Lee what in the name of the sacred-" yelping as she tugged on his arm - sending him stumbling after her - the Fire Lord half limped half trotted after his old friend until he was OUT of his daughters room and standing in the hall again.

Staring at Ty Lee as he tried to make sense of what the young woman was saying - Zuko glanced at the other Kyoshi warriors (including Chiyori) who Ty Lee tried to shoo away. Rolling his eyes as they just looked confused, Zuko nodded - telling them it was alright - and returned his attention to Ty Lee as the Kyoshi backed away and departed.

Keeping up with Ty Lee was always difficult - Zuko had (more or less) mastered it some time before. When everyone else thought his sum-up of Ty Lee being a circus freak was an insult - Ty Lee had understood it was more an observation and a statement of fact by the Fire Lord than anything else. They'd formed a sort of unique 'half-language' between each other a long while ago... that said, the Fire Lord was struggling to even UNDERSTAND Ty Lee right now - never mind keep up with her.

"I- what- she- is she- are you- hey!" the last one was a yell of frustration as Ty Lee shook his 'finger' without even giving him a chance to say anything. As Ty Lee got closer to him - Zuko kept having to crane his neck to reach her height and hear what she was saying, "I don't- a bug? What- Embarrassed?! Why- I don't-" growling as his friend kept going on and on and ON without giving him a chance to say anything, Zuko said, "Ty Lee... Ty Lee! TY LEE!!"

The last one was audible enough to get the gymnast to shut up for a second - but it also made her flinch in surprise. Staring down at Ty Lee, Zuko put a hand on her shoulder - bending down - pulled her into a gentle embrace. Squeezing Ty Lee tighter once she realized he wasn't mad at her, Zuko said, "Thank you... Ty Lee. Thank your family for me - I've put them in a lot of danger. I'm a... cold, selfish and bitter man... I can't justify what I'm doing to you all anymore - it's time to change," as Ty Lee started to back away, Zuko took her hand and smiled again, "I know you're not alright - Ty Lee... but hold tight... just hold on a little longer... you will be,"

Kissing her cheek softly, Zuko gave her one last smile and brushed past her to enter Ta Min's room.

"Ta Min?"
Ironically
I hired a guy with a similar ability to kill the avatar myself

RE: The Changing Times
Looking at the jar and then at her sister's departing back, Buri managed to say, "Are you sure? I-" but Ty Lee was already gone. Glancing at Ta Min, the older woman smiled confusedly and said, "I don't remember her talking that little OR that quick," shrugging and kicking her tiny feet as Buri began to tend to her hands, Ta Min whimpered and said, "She's upset," staring at the little girl, Buri asked, "How can you tell sweety?" smiling when Ta Min just shrugged, Buri then asked, "Why's she upset then?" shaking her head, Ta Min said, "Dunno... but it's important,"

Once Buri had finished tending and bandaging her hands - Ta Min (mostly just sniffling now) took her guardians hand and shuffled after her. Her eyes coming up as she heard her name, Ta Min peaked out from behind Buri's skirt and smiled sheepishly at her father, "Hi daddy..." her fears and shame melted almost instantly as her father scooped her into his arms and held her tightly. Burying her face in her father's shoulder, Ta Min only looked up when she heard Buri and Ty Lee talking softly - the older sister nodding and leaving the door open as she departed.

Keeping her arms around her father's neck as he sat onto the bed, Ta Min sniffled again but she'd stopped shaking, "I'm sorry daddy... you're proud of me but... but I bended my powers wrong - and... and I was fighting again..." flinching as her father repeated what she said, Ta Min nodded and meekly said, "Nalum... we got fighting 'cause she's bossy and... and the other's listen to her more than me," looking up at her father, Ta Min said, "Are you cross with me daddy? I'm sorry if I dissedhonored you... I don't mean to - please say you're not cross, please?"
